Practice, Practice, Practice
Even for the most hardened sailors, constant practice is the most effective way to prepare for what will happen. It's not a matter of if.
That's why we work with you to identify what you want to practice, and then we drill it!
Whether 1/2 day or full day exercises, we take your objectives seriously, putting you in the driver's seat and providing you ample opportunity to get comfortable with whatever it is you're wanting to improve.
Most focus on boat handling skills, however you're not limited to that; we cover a ton of boat maintenance (because, well, there is a ton of it!) and provide opportunities that help you dive into all of the workings of a yacht.
Let's get real... living aboard a boat can be one of the most painful, most rewarding experiences in your life. It truly depends on your perspective and your expectations.
At Sailing Fionia, we love to help with the latter, working with would-be boat owners and live aboards to help them understand the real pain points of boat ownership.
Our live aboard program puts you on board, sailing some, but mostly managing the boat on a day to day basis while staying aboard. This includes provisioning, cleaning, maintenance, and spending enough time on board to become proficient at managing those things we often take for granted like laundry, cooking in a fully stocked kitchen and showering.

We currently berth in Cascais and are up and down the coast of Portugal on a regular basis, mostly from Peniche down into the Algarve.
If you're ready for a multi-day adventure that provides you with real live-aboard experience along with hands on practice, then look no further.
We're very focused on safe passages within relatively shortly distances, avoiding the risks and pains of epic voyages. Even still, sh#t happens! That's what makes our excursions awesome!
You get hands on experience preparing, sailing and managing an active yacht! Best of all, we tailor the passage to your objectives. Want some night sailing? No problem. Want to drill anchoring? We've got you covered. You get the picture!
